Since we bathed daily, our feet didn’t stink, nor did our moccasins. The only pair I ever made that got stinky was because my cat peed in them…

It would not be difficult to glue on a ‘dance rubber’ outsole, or sew on a similar ‘midsole’ and glue the outsole to that. Even a heavier piece of leather, like thick elkhide, could be attached for a sturdier sole. See the 1970s book ‘Make Your Own Shoes’ by Catherine Lewis-Clark, for good instructions on making your own moccasins. (I have no connection to the author, but her book was the one that got me started on my current shoemaking studies.

They seem like hey would last only a few days . being that they do not have a rubber or any kind of sole at all. They’re fine if you plan on walking on the grass all the time though.

I guess you’ve never worn mocs? A quick run in the washer with some mild soap takes care of dirt and odor. Let them dry slow.
